You amaze me...

I have mentioned a few times that I have made up a Tailored Craftiness VIP group on face book. I run fortnightly challenges, (with prizes,) for the ladies on there. Its made up of ladies who are current product club members, or past customers of my store. Its a great bunch of ladies that inspire me, and hopefully each other. I LOVE going on the group daily to "catch up",however briefly, with the likeminded ladies that are my VIP's. They are all amazing women.

These ladies, like all women,  have  varying circumstances, a lot very difficult. I admire the resilience of all such women who are coping with either physical pain, emotional pain, financially difficulties and family difficulties. -Women like these make up our families, our communities, and our world. The strength of them amazes me. I hope I can continue to learn from them and be like the ones that personally touch my life.

In honor of these women I made todays set of cards.
I used the sketch from the "just add ink" blog challenge (#252)

Mojo Monday 386

ZOur challenge this week for mojo Monday  was to create a "tall and skinny" card. The Mojo Monday team gave us some very helpful suggestions on the blog for card sizes, which helped immensely.

I've made a card using a piece of card stock that measured 7" x 6". On the long side (7") I scored it at 3.5" to create a side folding card.

It's bright and summery- just like today. I used some wonderful new Stampin up products from the Occasions catalog-
The chevron background paper was from the "Stacked with love" designer series paper (#137779)

Strawberry slush cardstock was my contrasting colour. I stamped a cute flower out of the "petal potpourri" stamp set (wood#137141 clear#138586) in this colour, and used old olive for the stem.  I punched out the flower with the coordinating punch, which is the flower medalion punch. The stamp set and punch come as a bundle for 15% off!!! (Wood #138876 clear# 138877)

The stem and the sentiment came from our FREE set -lotus blossom. You can't argue with a Free stamp set can you??? Saleabration time is THE best time of the year!! EACH purchase of $90 will get you a free Saleabration item- so, $180 worth of purchases will get you 2 free items- YAY!

Are you thinking of purchasing any of these items? click on the button below, and it will take you straight to my online store- Every customer that uses this months hostess code will get themselves an ADDED gift from ME to thank you for choosing me as your demonstrator!
this months hostess code is- D29NUA9C

Penny farthing "thanks" in the just add ink challenge!

For those of you that don't know, I live in Evandale Tasmania. It's a gorgeous little town just outside of Launceston. I love living here. It's a cute sleepy town with a gorgeous bakery and awesome butcher, and a little village shop. (-and a great remedial massage therapist πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ME!!)

Every year this town goes through a metamorphosis of sorts for the national Penny farthing champion ship races.
"Just a bit of fun" -you say? No, these are SERIOUS races!!

We have 2 pubs in town, here's one, right out side the race course!!

Ingelside Bakery. You can get the BEST sourdough here!!

People come from far and wide to compete, ( international visitors as well!!) and it's great to watch. There's also some wonderful stalls.

This year we have a friend that happens to be staying the weekend of the penny farthing races. I made a card to say a big thankyou to him, and used the races as my inspiration!
Ive entered it into the "thank you challenge" at the Just add ink blog! Im loving entering challenges at the moment- its great getting your creative juices flowing!!!

If you would like to check out the other VERY talented entries click HERE

Thankyou for taking the time to visit my blog! who knows- One Penny farthing day I may see you too- you would be more than welcomed in to our lovely little town!

Mojo Monday 385

I've been sooooooo busy at my remedial massage clinic this past fortnight! I've barely done anything creative at all!! This morning I HAD to squeeze in a card! I couldn't go a day more. Fortunately this morning in my inbox was this weeks mojo Monday challenge- here it is-
Last week I had a BBB arrive at my door, and in it was a fresh pack of blackberry bliss cardstock. ($11.95 #133682) So I had to use it, along with some dsp I haven't used in a while. (Moonlight designer series paper $11.95 #133701) I'd love to hear what you think.
The sentiment is courtesy of the stamp set "chalk talk" (wood $44.95 #130631 clear $35.95 #130634)

I got the little bow (-isn't it cute???-) from the new Occasions catalog- it's from the Mini treat bag thinlit dies ($67.95 #137547) there's so many dies in this collection!! And all will be used over and over again.
I added some sparkle in the form of glimmer paper ($8.95 #135314) and some rhinestones, ($8.95 #119246) and some texture from the holiday catalog carry over- lucky stars textured impressions Embossing folder ($13.95 # 135817)

Cheerful critters

I love the cheerful critters stamp set. So easy to work with! And such fun images, great for any occasion!

Creating shade, to create depth-
Do you notice that I used the grey Blendabilities around some of the image to create depth? I used the slate grey blendies, and the lightest colour of the set- you don't want it to stand out, just be enough so that the eye dosent see it, but it just looks "right".
Creating texture-
Looking closely I also clear embossed hearts on the whisper white cardstock. The White panel is quite large, and could detract  from the overall effect if left plain... So I chose the stripey hearts image from the "best day ever" Saleabration stamp set. It just adds some texture to a plain background.

I hope these tips help you in your projects-
Try them out when you can next squeeze some creative therapy into your day!!!!

Butterfly basics waterwash

You know how sometimes, you just want a really gorgeous card, but with out the hassle? This card is totally for you!!

All you will need is-
* 1/2 of an a4 piece of cardstock as your base card (pool party)
* 2 layering pieces- I used bemuda bay and glimmer paper
* a piece of SU water colour paper
* butterfly basics stamp set (occasions catalog)
*matching butterfly dies, big shot
* chevron embossing folder
*complimentary inks (pool party and bemuda bay)
*silver embossing powder and heat tool
*adhesives (I used tombo) dimensionals
*Rhinestones and ribbon
Step 1- cut your layered pieces (bermuda bay and glimmer paper in my case) AND your water colour paper
Step 2- wet your water colour paper (you can spritz it, but I just VERY QUICKLY ran it under water.)
Step 3- open your embossing folder, and, starting with your lightest colour, randomly "stamp" the pads over the raised image of the embossing folder. You are inking the embossing folder, as if it was a stamp.
Step4- place your dampened watercolour paper inside. Carefully shut the embossing folder- you don't want your paper to move too much. Press down to ensure a good transfer of ink from folder to paper.
Step 5. Dry water colour paper with your heat tool.
Step 6- stamp and emboss (using versamark ink and silver embossing powder) the small butterfly from butterfly basics on to your coloured water colour paper. Stamp, and emboss a sentiment.
Step 7- die cut the butterfly out, attach twisted ribbon to the underside of butterfly
Step8- assemble and glue layers. Add die cut butterfly, popping it up with dimensionals.
Step9- add bling
Step10- wonder at your creativeness!!

Partial die cutting

One of the lovely ladies (Rebecca W) posted a pic of one of her wonderful cards in our VIP face book group. She used a technique called partial die cutting. A couple of the ladies had never done this technique before, so I took a couple of pictures and did a mini photo tutorial of how to do it- and I thought you might like to see how it was done too!
Here is my image, it's a hot air balloon from the "celebrate today" stamp set.
Obviously I can't die cut this image like this, because I would cut off the hot air balloons basket - but I'm not a confident fussy cutter either- so here is what I did-
*I lined up my die with the balloon part of my image.
*I only placed the acrylic plate over the bits I actually wanted to cut, because the dies will only cut if the pressure of acrylic plate is over the them.
*I ran the "sandwich" through the big shot.
At the other end I got a  lovely smooth cut over the circular part of the balloon, leaving me only to cut the straight (easier) cuts around the basket!
All done!
Here is my finished project-

Interested in joining our VIP group? ANYONE who makes a purchase from my store (see button above) is welcome to be a part of our group! every fortnight I run creative challenges with Stampin Up products as prizes- and we gain fantastic inspiration from one another! We would LOVE to welcome you into our group!

I hope you are able to squeeze in some creative therapy today :-)

Mojo Monday!

I just loved this weeks Mojo monday sketch (mojo383) its a definite challenge!

There was a lot of elements to this weeks sketch, and I was conscious of not making the project look too crowded- how do you think I went?

I used Stampin Up's new stamp set called "sheltering tree" its a beautiful set, a great one for gift card sets I think (I'm thinking seasonal cards....) the sentiment is from Stampin ups saleabration set, "best day ever" Im getting Lots of use out of this free set- what a bonus!!

This is my first entry into mojo monday- theres so many talented card makers out there- its lovely to gain inspiration from them all!

Interactive cards!

Don't you just love recieving a card that pops up, or moves in some way? We are all such curious creatures, cards like this thrill us (I might be alone, but they thrill me!!)

My first question is always- how did you do that??- it's lovely to give something that inspires someone to ask that, and maybe even give it a go!

I made an interactive card last week, (my fan card) and it inspired me to have a go at another- a slider card. And I thought the new celebrate today stamp set would be perfect for this type of card! Let me know what you think!
The colours are bemuda bay, soft sky, and pool party. The matching balloon framelits (you can buy them as a bundle and get 15% off!!) make light work of cutting out all those fiddly banners, and bow! Easy! The dsp I used is retired, but the confetti celebration dsp would work even better in this card I think! And if you pull down the bakers twine bow...

(EDIT- If you wish to see a tutorial to this technique- please see it HERE)
